Ziobro’s Salary Deduction Details Announced by Czarzasty

Polish Sejm reveals financial penalties for Zbigniew Ziobro’s unexcused parliamentary absences.

The Absence Penalty System

Włodzimierz Czarzasty outlined that 588 zł will be deducted daily from Zbigniew Ziobro’s salary for each of his first three unexcused absences in a month. This represents one thirtieth of his diet and one thirtieth of his basic allowance.

For subsequent unexcused absences beginning on the fourth day, 3,534 zł will be deducted daily. This applies to each day Ziobro fails to attend parliamentary sessions without justification.

The 18-Day Threshold

This penalty process continues until the 18th consecutive day of absence, regardless of whether they span multiple months. Ziobro reached this threshold on January 21.

He now has until January 29 to justify his absences. Czarzasty stated he will then notify the Sejm’s Rules and Immunity Commission about the 18 consecutive unexcused days.

Potential Consequences

The commission can issue a reprimand, warning, or formal reprimand to the PiS member. If any such decision is made, Czarzasty will propose stripping Ziobro entirely of his parliamentary diet and reducing his basic allowance to one tenth of its original amount.

If approved by the Sejm’s Presidium, Ziobro would receive only 1,350 zł monthly as his entire remuneration, comprising no diet and just one tenth of his basic allowance.
