A 33‑year‑old man was arrested in Warsaw’s Żolibórz district after a stolen wallet was used for 15 unauthorized ATM card transactions following a train robbery in late October.
Train robbery triggers wallet theft
Late October, a robbery on a train traveling from Kielce to Warsaw left a passenger’s wallet stolen, including an ATM card.
Wallet contents and estimated damages
The wallet held a passport, driver’s licence, ID, multiple ATM cards and cash, with total losses estimated at 1,173 zł.
Suspect identified and arrested
Police traced the card to a 33‑year‑old who performed 15 unauthorized transactions at a shop on Dubois Street.
The suspect was detained at his residence and transported to the Żoliborz police station.
Legal charges and potential sentence
He faces one charge of theft and 15 counts of bank theft and unauthorized card use, with a possible imprisonment of up to ten years.
