In Żoliborz, a joint safety workshop organized by the Social Insurance Institution, the city safety center and local police educated seniors on detecting fraud and walking safely through the neighborhood.
Scam Awareness and Prevention
Participants were taught to recognize common fraud tactics, including impersonations of family members, police officers and public officials. They learned to verify callers’ identities and to refuse to transfer money to unknown parties.
Safe Pedestrian Practices
Police officers reviewed rules for street crossing, stressing the use of reflective clothing, marked crossings and caution at intersections and bike lanes. Seniors discussed everyday risks and shared practical tips for safe movement.
Community Engagement and Integration
The session served as a forum for seniors to share experiences, build social connections and reinforce collective vigilance. Organizers emphasized the importance of active participation in personal safety.
Part of the Nationwide “Informed Decisions – Safe Senior” Campaign
The event was one of many across Poland under the national campaign led by ZUS, aimed at spreading knowledge on finance, health and daily safety issues among older adults.
