ZUS Paying Additional 689 PLN Benefit: Eligibility and Requirements

The Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) is providing a monthly supplement of 689.17 PLN to eligible survivors, provided they meet specific criteria regarding their family pension and personal life circumstances.

Eligibility for the Orphan’s Supplement

The Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) pays an additional 689.17 PLN to certain beneficiaries. While often associated with age, the core requirement is the right to a family pension as defined by the 1998 Act on pensions from the Social Insurance Fund. This supplement is specifically designated for complete orphans.

Life Circumstances and Legal Status

Beneficiaries include individuals who have lost both parents, or those whose father was unknown from birth and whose mother is deceased. The payment is linked to the receipt of a family pension; if the right to the pension expires, the supplement is also withdrawn.

Age Limits and Exceptions

Support is generally provided until the age of 25, provided the beneficiary remains in education. There are, however, two significant exceptions to this rule that allow for continued payments.

Updated Benefit Rates

Following the annual indexation in March, the amount for a complete orphan increased by nearly 35 PLN. The current rate is 689.17 PLN per month, which is transferred to the beneficiary alongside their family pension.

Application Requirements

These funds are not granted automatically. To receive the support, applicants must submit the necessary documentation to their local ZUS office.
