ZUS Pays Nearly 7,000 zł Monthly to Centenarians

Poland’s ZUS (Social Insurance Institution) provides a monthly benefit of almost 7,000 zł to individuals aged 100 or older, with most receiving it automatically.

Eligibility for Honorary Benefit

The primary requirement for receiving the honorary benefit, also known as the honorary pension, is reaching the age of 100. There is no requirement for prior pension or disability benefits, nor is work history considered.

The vast majority of eligible seniors receive the benefit automatically, but some individuals must submit an application.

Benefit Amount and Payment

As of March 2026, the honorary benefit is 6,938.92 zł per month (previously 6,589.67 zł gross). This benefit can be received in conjunction with other pensions, benefits, and supplements.

Once granted, the benefit is paid monthly for life and is subject to annual valorization, making it the highest such benefit paid by ZUS.

Applying for the Honorary Benefit

Approximately 100 people in Poland receive the honorary benefit after submitting an application. This applies to seniors who have not qualified for a pension and do not receive the benefit automatically. Applications are submitted to ZUS using form ESH, with a birth certificate as proof of age.

Applicants must also possess Polish citizenship and demonstrate that Poland was the center of their life interests for at least 10 years after turning 16.

Automatic Benefit Distribution

Most Polish centenarians receive the honorary benefit automatically, starting in the month they turn 100. The benefit is paid by ZUS or KRUS (Agricultural Social Insurance Fund) if the senior is entitled to agricultural or parental benefits.

Growth in Beneficiaries

The number of people receiving this record benefit is increasing as life expectancy rises. As of March 2026, 4,179 individuals were receiving the benefit, up from 3,863 at the end of September 2025 and over 4,000 in December 2025.

Regional Distribution of Beneficiaries

The highest concentration of centenarians receiving the benefit is found in various voivodeships (provinces). The lowest numbers are in the Opole (76), Lubusz (87), and Podlaskie (109) voivodeships.
