Poland’s Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) will again distribute the 14th monthly pension in autumn 2026, but increasingly, seniors will not receive it.
Why the 14th Pension Has More Exclusions Than the 13th
The list of exclusions for the 14th pension is significantly longer than for the 13th. While some rules are the same, a new financial criterion eliminates a growing number of seniors.
The 13th pension goes to almost everyone, regardless of benefit amount. The 14th pension operates differently, creating problems as the system begins to exclude groups of seniors as benefits increase, sometimes to zero.
Income Thresholds and the “Zloty for Zloty” Mechanism
The most significant mechanism is the “zloty for zloty” rule. Above 2900 zł gross pension, the 14th pension begins to decrease. Crucially, if the benefit falls below 50 zł gross after reductions, ZUS will not pay it, resulting in a hard limit of 4828.49 zł gross pension.
Above this amount, seniors lose the right to the 14th pension entirely, receiving no payment, even a symbolic one. Many discover this only when a payment is not received.
14th Pension Amounts Based on Pension Level (2026)
Here are estimated gross and net amounts for the 14th pension in 2026:

Who Will Not Receive the 2026 14th Pension?
The exclusion list is broader than for the 13th pension, including those with high benefits. ZUS will not pay the 14th pension to individuals in several categories.
The “Benefit Trap” and Working Pensioners
The increasing number of seniors losing the 14th pension is due to several overlapping factors, described by economists as a “benefit trap.”
One example is Maria, who receives an early pension and works as a seamstress. Her income exceeds 130% of the average wage (approximately 11,957 zł in 2026), leading to suspension of her pension and ineligibility for the 14th pension.
When Will the 14th Pension Be Paid in 2026?
While the exact date depends on government regulations, payments typically occur in September, following the standard pension and benefit payment schedule. Funds are delivered by post or directly to accounts alongside regular pension payments.
Applying for the 14th Pension
No application is required for the 14th pension. ZUS and KRUS automatically grant and pay it with the pension, without any formalities. A missing payment usually indicates ineligibility.
