A 26‑year‑old woman in Warsaw stabbed a man to death on 6 October 2025, later claiming the act was an accidental result of a knife‑play.
Prosecutor’s Investigation Launched
On 7 October 2025 the Warsaw‑Żoliborz Prosecutor’s Office opened a murder investigation under case number 4317‑1.Ds. 695.2025.IV, charging the suspect under Article 148 § 1 of the Polish Criminal Code.
Details of the Incident
During a visit to the apartment at Broniewskiego 20, the suspect allegedly stabbed the 36‑year‑old victim in the left side of the neck with a kitchen knife, creating a laceration at least 6 cm long and cutting the right carotid and subclavian arteries, causing massive internal bleeding into the right pleural cavity and airways. The victim died from the injuries.
Suspect’s Contradictory Statements
The suspect, Agnieszka Ś., denied the charges during proceedings, insisting the victim died accidentally while he tried to prevent her from cutting himself. She stated this contradicts earlier accounts given to the emergency operator and police, where she claimed the victim committed suicide and the incident was a knife‑play accident. She was reported to have been heavily intoxicated at the time.
Court Imposes Temporary Custody
On 9 October 2025 the Warsaw‑Żoliborz District Court placed the suspect in temporary detention for three months.
Pending Psychiatric Evaluation and Autopsy Report
Further proceedings will include a court‑ordered psychiatric assessment of the suspect and a complete autopsy report of the victim.
