The tragedy occurred on February 14. A 27-year-old woman and her 35-year-old partner rented a house by a lake near Augustów. The 27-year-old drowned in a garden hot tub. “Immediately after the incident, the 35-year-old man, who was in the company of the woman, was detained and after being questioned as a witness, was released” – informed the District Prosecutor’s Office in Suwałki.
Charges Filed Against 35-Year-Old Man
However, information reached investigators that the 35-year-old may have previously committed a sexual offense against another woman. The man was detained. On Friday, the District Court in Augustów applied a three-month temporary arrest to the 35-year-old.
Former Partners Begin Reporting to Police
“The death of the 27-year-old woman prompted other women, former partners of the 35-year-old man, to come forward to the police. There are at least five of them,” conveyed prosecutor Sebastian Piekarski, head of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Augustów, in a conversation with “Fakt”.
“We appeal to the former partners of the suspect and witnesses to report to Augustów authorities, prosecutor’s office or police. The case concerns even a dozen years back. The suspect has been temporarily arrested, the victims need not fear him,” added the prosecutor. It is known that the 35-year-old was not previously convicted.
