U.S. President Donald Trump accuses the UN of deliberate sabotage, citing malfunctioning equipment during his speech and escalator incident.
Demand for Investigation
President Donald Trump has called for an investigation into what he describes as “triple sabotage” at the UN General Assembly, including a stalled escalator and a malfunctioning teleprompter.
He claims to have experienced “three very sinister incidents” in New York, including the escalator stopping as he and First Lady Melania Trump were using it.
UN Response
Summit organizers stated the escalator likely stopped due to a camera crew accidentally triggering a safety mechanism, but the UN Secretary-General’s office has ordered a detailed probe into the three incidents Trump mentioned on social media.
“Icy-Black” Teleprompter
Beyond the escalator issue, Trump alleges his teleprompter was inoperable and “icy-black” during his Tuesday (September 23) speech at the UN General Assembly, with the venue’s sound system also reportedly turned off.
“This was no accident—it was triple sabotage at the UN,” Trump wrote, demanding an investigation and criticizing the organization’s effectiveness.
