Drunk Driver Detained After Collision in Wawer

A two-vehicle collision involving a Kia and a Mercedes occurred Sunday, May 17, at the intersection of Panny Wodnej and Patriotów streets in Warsaw’s Wawer district, resulting in one arrest.

Collision Details

The incident took place around 1:00 PM on Sunday at a roundabout. Preliminary findings indicate the Mercedes driver failed to yield to the Kia, leading to a collision that sent the Mercedes into a street lamp.

Emergency Response and Medical Assessment

Firefighters, medical rescue teams, and police responded to the scene to secure the area and damaged infrastructure. Both drivers were evaluated by medical personnel, but neither required hospitalization.

Alcohol Testing and Legal Action

Police officers administered breathalyzer tests to both drivers. While the Kia driver was sober, the Mercedes driver tested at nearly 1.2 per mille alcohol concentration. The Polish citizen was detained and will face further questioning once he is sober.
