A 40-minute dispute erupted during a recent government session over delays in finalizing the National Reconstruction Plan.
Media reports of heated exchange
During the last Council of Ministers meeting (September 23), a 40-minute altercation reportedly occurred. The government intended to address a resolution on revising the National Reconstruction Plan (KPO), but Minister Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz requested additional days to prepare the project. TVN24 reported that the minister failed to complete the task of developing a comprehensive reform plan for the KPO. The clash allegedly led to her exclusion from a post-meeting press conference.
Pełczyńska-Nałęcz defends her stance
Pełczyńska-Nałęcz addressed the issue on TVN24, stating: “This is an unfortunate situation, and I had no involvement in any manipulated leaks from the government. Cabinet meetings are non-public, and we are legally obligated not to disclose their contents.” She emphasized that she would not comment on the meeting, calling the leaks damaging to the prime minister’s image and the government’s reputation. She confirmed that the KPO would be approved the following day (September 26) after resolving outstanding issues.
Criticism of government leaks
Earlier, Pełczyńska-Nałęcz posted on social media, lamenting that “the Council of Ministers leaks like a sieve, contrary to the principle that its meetings are confidential.” She noted that the KPO revision involved 125 changes, with two pending reforms not yet documented by the responsible ministers. She asserted she was fully prepared for the cabinet meeting and would not discuss its proceedings due to legal confidentiality obligations.
