Man Joked About Having a Grenade at Chopin Airport

A 35-year-old man was fined and barred from boarding after joking about carrying a grenade during security screening.

Border guards isolated the man and his luggage after he responded to a security check question about dangerous items by saying he had a “grenade.” Explosive experts were called to inspect his belongings, but no explosives were found.

Consequences for the Passenger

The 35-year-old admitted it was a joke. He was fined 500 PLN and denied boarding to the United Arab Emirates. Authorities reminded that falsely claiming to have weapons or explosives is a violation.

Similar Incident a Month Earlier

Last month, another man joked about having a bomb in his daughter’s luggage during check-in. He was also fined 500 PLN, but his daughter was allowed to board.
