KO MP Reveals Suspension Details: “I Felt Like Elementary School”

On Oct. 8, Polish MP Klaudia Jachira discussed her suspension by the KO club, citing clashes over revised Ukraine aid legislation.

Suspension Explained in Detail

On Wednesday, Oct. 8, she clarified the reasons behind her suspension during an Onet interview. Jachira said the conflict emerged three weeks earlier when she submitted amendments to the Ukraine aid bill that limited benefits to Polish families with at least one working parent—a rule also imposed on Ukrainian citizens. She added that Ula Zielińska, the de‑facto chair of the KO club from the Greens, informed her the club requested she withdraw her statement. Jachira refused, which led to the suspension. She recalled that no one warned her; a woman in a sealed envelope approached her in the Sejm with a notice of decision. “I felt a bit like elementary school,” she said.

Jachira’s Refusal to Withdraw Statement

She emphasized that she bears no ill will towards the club and remains on good terms with fellow KO members. However, she will not retract her position. Jachira argues parents should not be distinguished by ethnic origin and children should not be graded as “better” or “worse.” She highlighted that the decision could save up to 15 billion zlotys, potentially fund child support, noting that the wealthy do not require the “800 plus” benefit.

Potential Budget Savings and Future Relations

Jachira’s comments suggest the KO’s stance could influence future policy on social benefits. While she maintains cordial relations with the club’s leadership, her public stance on equality and financial efficiency signals possible tensions within the party moving forward.
