What Does Donald Trump’s Plan Include? The Peace Idea for Gaza Strip

Donald Trump unveiled a 20‑point peace plan in late September aimed at ending the Israel‑Hamas war that has raged since October 2023.

Immediate End to Hostilities

Trump’s plan, announced at the end of September, calls for a swift ceasefire, a freeze of front‑line positions, and a partial withdrawal of Israeli forces. A ceasefire has already been implemented, and since Monday, 13 October, the Red Cross has conducted hostage exchanges between Hamas and Israel.

Hostage Release and Amnesty

According to the proposal, within 72 hours after Israel declares public acceptance of the plan, Hamas must release all hostages and surrender the bodies of the deceased. Israel would then free Palestinian detainees. Members of Hamas who commit to peaceful coexistence and lay down arms would receive amnesty, and those choosing to leave Gaza could do so safely.

“New Gaza” Under International Oversight

Once signed, the agreement would trigger immediate humanitarian aid to Gaza through the United Nations. Oversight would be provided by a “Peace Council” chaired by Trump, with former British prime minister Tony Blair assigned an undefined role. Trump has expressed doubts about the plan’s suitability, citing concerns over his reputation, and questioned whether Blair’s involvement would be acceptable to all parties. Critics point to Blair’s role in the 2003 Iraq war. The proposal also envisions rebuilding the region as a “New Gaza.”
