Polish priest Krystian K. was detained on October 12 for drug possession after a body was discovered last month in his Sosnowiec apartment, authorities say.
Additional Troubles for Priest Krystian K.
Dominik Michalik, press officer of the Katowice City Police, confirmed that on October 12 the priest was arrested in Katowice on drug possession charges. The case is being supervised by the Katowice North District Prosecutor’s Office. Michalik did not disclose the circumstances of the arrest, and priest‑lawyer Arkadiusz Ludwiczek said he had no knowledge of the matter.
Body of the Man in Priest’s Apartment
On the night of March 19–20, 2024, a 21‑year‑old male’s body was found in the parish apartment of Priest Krystian K. in Sosnowiec. The priest faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and drug possession. Prosecutors say the 44‑year‑old was supposed to administer a psychoactive substance that may have caused death.
Prosecutor to Examine Both Cases
Zbigniew Pawlik, head of the Sosnowiec North District Prosecutor’s Office handling the 21‑year‑old’s death, announced a court request concerning the latest Katowice incident. He stated that the accused again violated the anti‑narcotics law, and the circumstances will affect sentencing; the prosecutor may submit a request for court review, or the court may act ex officio.
