Russian Diplomatic Dacia Collides on Wisłostrada, Blocking Road Both Ways

A Russian diplomatic vehicle in a Dacia caused a multi‑vehicle collision on Warsaw’s Wisłostrada on Saturday, October 18 at 7:06 p.m., blocking traffic in both directions and injuring one person.

Accident Overview

At 19:06 on October 18, a Dacia bearing diplomatic registration, driven by technical staff of the Russian Embassy, lost control on the Wisłostrada ramp over the Krasiński Street viaduct and struck energy‑absorbing barriers. The impact sent fragments of the vehicle and barrier debris across the opposite lane, damaging a Mazda and a Volvo.

Secondary Vehicle Impact

Subsequently, the damaged Dacia collided with a BMW heading toward the city center, resulting in the latter’s roof being crushed by the wreckage.

Emergency Response

Two fire‑brigade units, a city operational team, a medical rescue squad, and police personnel were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters secured the area, cut off vehicle power supplies, and removed leaked fluids, while police conducted investigations and directed traffic.

Injury and Hospitalization

One passenger from the Dacia was transported to a hospital for treatment following the collision.

Road Closure and Clearance

The Wisłostrada was blocked in both directions during rescue and police operations. Traffic resumed gradually once the most urgent tasks were completed and the roadway was cleared of wreckage.
