Flights Resume on Ursynów–Ursus Runway After Chopin Airport Works

Flights on Warsaw Chopin Airport’s runway 11/29 for the Ursynów–Ursus axis resume today after repairs, returning normal operations.

Runway 11/29 Temporarily Closed

Runway 11/29 at Warsaw Chopin Airport was closed from 22 September to 25 October for partial renovation. It was restored to operations on 24 October, allowing take‑offs and landings on the Ursynów – Ursus axis.

Operations Shifted to Runway 15/33

During the closure, all departures and arrivals were conducted on runway 15/33 (designated RWY 15/33), which serves the Piaseczno – Włochy, Ochota, Bemowo sectors. Airport managers said the diversion should not affect flight punctuality.

Maintenance and Modernisation Work

The temporary restriction was due to regular maintenance‑modernisation tasks aimed at preserving runway surface and facilities. Changes were announced through industry services, carrier notifications, crew Notices to Airmen (NOTAM), indicating the runway 11/29 closure until 25 October.

Normal Runway Schedule Restored

Reinstating runway 11/29 restores the typical dual‑runway usage at the airport, with the axes approximately intersecting halfway. Residents of surrounding districts now experience standard approach and departure directions that depend on weather and air‑traffic organisation.
