A 160‑hectare plot in Zabłotów sold for 23 million zł to the CPK project triggered mass firings at the National Agricultural Support Centre and a police investigation.
Mass Firings at the National Agricultural Support Centre
Radio ZET reported that a wave of dismissals swept through the Krajowy Ośrodek Wsparcia Rolnictwa (KOWR), including the deputy director of audit and the chief personnel officer at the Warsaw regional office. The moves were announced on Tuesday morning amid allegations of mismanagement. The former deputy audit director was identified as Mariusz Gierszewski, who confirmed the firings in a TVN24 interview.
KOWR Seeks Return of the Zabłotów Plot
On 5 November, KOWR convened a meeting with Vice‑President Dawtony Piotrem Wielgomas to request the return of the 160‑hectare parcel in Zabłotów that is slated for a high‑speed rail line. The discussion also involved representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office and the CPK company. KOWR argued that the land could be restored if the owners voluntarily agreed to sell, hoping a negotiation could resolve the dispute amicably.
Controversial Sale of the 160‑Hectare Parcel
On 1 December 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development approved the purchase of the Zabłotów plot for 23 million zł, officials announced. The land, located roughly 10 kilometres from Baranów, is intended for the Warsaw‑CPK high‑speed rail corridor, potentially raising its value to about 400 million zł. The sale prompted a probe by the Prosecutor’s Office for exceeding authority, while the vice‑president of Dawtony—Piotr Wielgomas—asserted he bought the land as an individual farmer exercising legal pre‑emptive rights and was unaware of the CPK plans.
