In a Tuesday Onet interview, Civic Coalition MP Katarzyna Piekarska challenged ex‑Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobry to confront the courts over alleged abuses of immunity, urging him to stop evading accountability.
Piekarska’s Call to Ziobry
During a Tuesday interview for Onet, MP Katarzyna Piekarska addressed Ziobry directly: “Take it seriously, Zbyszku – come here, face the independent court. There is no hiding, no being a coward.”
She recalled making a similar plea almost two years earlier when she urged the parliamentary majority not to hang up “the flag” when Ziobry was accused of evading justice. Piekarska called it a shame that the former minister might use his immunity to escape responsibility.
Ziobry’s Implied Legal Filings
On Monday and Tuesday, 3‑4 November, Ziobry posted on the X platform that, together with Marcin Warchoł, the Law and Justice club had filed two criminal complaints against former prosecutor‑general Waldemar Żurka. The first complaint alleged that Żurka sought to publicly disclose, without permission, a request to lift Ziobry’s immunity.
The second complaint claimed that a request to lift Ziobry’s immunity had been signed by an unknown person. Ziobry himself said the request was legally ineffective and should not be considered.
Ziobry Testifies Before Pegasus Inquiry
On 29 September, Ziobry appeared before the Sejm’s Pegasus Investigation Committee. He denied that the Pegasus system was used to surveil political opponents, but admitted that he bears political and constitutional responsibility for its purchase. Ziobry also noted that the financial transfer agreement had been signed by the then‑Vice‑Minister for Justice.
Following the inquiry, prosecutors have charged the former minister with 26 offences related to irregularities in the Justice Fund, potentially facing up to 25 years in prison.
