Temporary Vistula Navigation Ban for Independence Day Parade

The Warsaw Water Management Authority announced a temporary closure of a stretch of the Vistula from Łazienkowska Bridge to Śląsko‑Dąbrowski Bridge on Tuesday, November 11, 2023, between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m., to secure the National Independence Day parade.

Temporary Vistula Navigation Ban

The Regional Water Management Authority in Warsaw issued a notice that the waterway on the Vistula, between Łazienkowska Bridge and Śląsko‑Dąbrowski Bridge, will be closed from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11 to ensure safety for participants of the National Independence Day celebrations.

Independence March and Disruptions

The Independence March will start at 2:00 p.m. at the Dmowskiego roundabout, proceeding along Jerozolimskie Avenues, Poniatowski Bridge, and streets including Wał Miedzeszyński, Wybrzeże Szczecińskie, and Siwca, ending at the PGE National Stadium at 8:00 p.m.

Authorities announced that, before the event, Marszałkowska Street from Żurawiej to Świętokrzyska will be closed, and traffic—including pedestrians—will also be stopped on Poniatowski Bridge.

Events on November 11

In Warsaw, parades, concerts, and ceremonies will commemorate Poland’s regained independence on November 11. Free tours are offered at the Polish History Museum, Polish Army Museum, and the XPavilion, with workshops, performances and exhibitions.

In the afternoon, between 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. on Krakowskie Przedmieście, cultural institutions such as ASP, DSH, and the Pilecki Institute will host parades, folk music concerts, film screenings and workshops.
