Morawiecki and Czarnek to Appear Together Amid PiS Conflict Rumors

PiS leaders Mateusz Morawiecki and Przemysław Czarnek will hold a joint meeting in Gorzów Wielkopolski on June 5 or 6, a move intended to quell reports of internal party factionalism.

Addressing Factional Tensions

The joint rally of the two PiS deputy chairmen is a response to recent reports regarding friction and disagreements between various party factions. MP Janusz Cieszyński confirmed that the meeting, slated for early June in Gorzów Wielkopolski, was decided upon following a regional party session in Sękocin.

Cieszyński stated he personally witnessed the agreement between the two men, which occurred during an informal discussion involving several other parliamentarians after the main meeting concluded. He described the exchange as long and positive.

Denying Claims of Hostility

Cieszyński rejected media accounts, specifically from TVN24, which suggested that the Sękocin session descended into shouting, heckling, and personal accusations. He specifically refuted claims that Przemysław Czarnek accused Mateusz Morawiecki of sabotaging his potential candidacy for prime minister.

The MP argued that the reported conflict is significantly overstated. He insisted that he was present in the hall during the entire proceedings and denied that any such aggressive outbursts took place.

Unity and Internal Dynamics

While denying the existence of a severe split, Cieszyński admitted that some individuals within the party are leaking information to the media to undermine internal unity. He suggested these members prioritize their own status within a smaller party over the success of a unified, governing force.

Addressing the status of political associations linked to Morawiecki, Cieszyński denied that Jarosław Kaczyński ordered their dissolution. He stated that while the party leader emphasizes unity, there is no official ban on such initiatives, though he acknowledged that the surrounding controversy has made further new associations unlikely.

Persistent Party Factionalism

Internal disputes between supporters of Mateusz Morawiecki, often dubbed the “scouts,” and a faction associated with figures like Przemysław Czarnek, Jacek Sasin, and former minister Zbigniew Ziobro have been reported for months. Despite leadership efforts to project a united front, these recurring tensions continue to emerge in the public eye.
