On November 9, Polish Confederation MP Stanisław Tyszka disclosed the details of a meeting with Minister Zbigniew Ziobro, demanding that the minister respond to the revelations.

Tyszka Reveals Meeting Details with Ziobro

Stanisław Tyszka was a guest on the Polsat News program on Sunday, November 9, where he discussed the Zbigniew Ziobro case and the Fund of Justice. He explained that a meeting took place during the United Right government, when he was still affiliated with Kukiz’15 and had only joined New Hope (part of Confederation) in 2022. Tyszka said the MP Janusz Kowalski arranged a meeting in which he and Paweł Kukiz were present at Minister Ziobro’s office, and that Kowalski suggested using the Fund of Justice for political aims. Tyszka rejected the proposal, noting that all participants were aware of the implications, and urged Ziobro to answer the claims. He also referenced the ongoing prosecution of former French President Sarkozy for illegal campaign financing.

Tomczyk Responds with Notification to Prosecutor

The Deputy Minister of National Defence, Cezary Tomczyk, reacted to Tyszka’s statements by announcing that he had notified the prosecutor’s office about the case. Tomczyk posted on social media that he was filing a notification regarding the possibility of a crime committed by Janusz Kowalski and other PiS politicians present at the meeting.

Ziobro Loses Immunity; Confederation Votes Differently

On Friday, November 7, the Sejm voted to lift Zbigniew Ziobro’s parliamentary immunity and to approve his detention and temporary arrest. Prosecutors plan to charge him on 26 counts involving irregularities with the Fund of Justice, each count being voted separately in the Sejm. In the 26 votes, MPs from the Coalition of Civil Society, PSL, Polish 2050, the Left, and Together voted “for,” while PiS MPs and members of the Republican and Confederation Coalitions of the Crown of Poland voted “against.” Confederation MPs displayed mixed voting patterns depending on the prosecutor’s proposal; regarding the approval to detain the former Minister of Justice, 13 Confederation MPs voted “against,” and three abstained.
