At 2 p.m. on provincial road 580 in Zaborów, a Nissan driver crashed head‑on into a Warsaw metro line 719 bus, injuring the driver and prompting two rescue helicopters and police to close the road.
Collision Details
At about 14:00 on provincial road 580 near Zaborów, a Nissan left its lane and struck a traveling city bus on line 719 head‑on. The car slid several dozen metres before falling into a roadside ditch, leaving the driver trapped in a deformed cabin.
Emergency Response
Firefighters from JRG Błonie, OSP Leszno and OSP Zaborów, together with three medical teams and two rescue helicopters (Ratownik 12 and Ratownik 18), converged on the scene. Hydraulic tools were used to extricate the injured driver, who was then air‑transferred to a Warsaw hospital.
Medical Situation
The driver suffered severe injuries and was flown by helicopter to a Warsaw hospital. The bus driver, receiving treatment on site, was also later taken to a hospital. Approximately 20 passengers aboard the bus reported no injuries requiring hospitalization.
Road Closure
Police have set detours, but traffic in both directions on road 580 is blocked. Drivers are warned of significant delays and advised to use alternative routes such as Stoleczna–Kujawski road, Zaborowska, Nowowieska, and Stoleczna.
Impact on Local and Transit Traffic
Road 580, a key artery linking Warsaw with Sochaczew and nearby towns, is now disrupted, affecting both local commutes and transit through areas near Kampinos National Park.
Historical Context
In 2022, the same stretch of road saw a fatal accident when a 36‑year‑old Audi driver veered off the road and struck a tree, dying at the scene.
