EBD crowns Warsaw as Europe’s top MICE & leisure capital
During Cityscape Global, 17–20 November in Riyadh, European Best Destinations awarded Warsaw as the city best linking MICE and leisure tourism, surpassing many European capitals.
Record growth and sustainability drive recognition
Warsaw received acclaim for record growth in the tourism sector, a rising share of tourism in its GDP, modern infrastructure, a focus on sustainable development, and the presence of global brands. The city also offers an excellent price‑quality ratio, dynamic urban development reflected in a rapidly growing skyline, and high safety standards.
Title reinforces Warsaw’s competitiveness for business events
The “Best European Capital of MICE & Leisure 2026” award confirms Warsaw’s strong international standing, enhances its competitiveness for hosting business events, and creates opportunities for future conferences with tangible economic benefits.
International visitors praise quality, safety and cuisine
Foreign tourists commend the high standards of hotels and restaurants, good price‑quality, increasing Michelin‑recommended dining, safety, cleanliness, greener public transport, and the city’s blend of historic Old Town and modern skyscrapers.
Middle‑East markets and green spaces boost Warsaw’s appeal
Middle‑East markets are becoming increasingly important for Warsaw tourism, and receiving the award in Riyadh underscores the city’s accessibility via a direct flight opened by PLL LOT. Cooperation between the city government and the Warsaw Tourist Organization strengthens the city’s tourism brand.
Business tourism fuels economic impact
Business tourism significantly boosts Warsaw’s economy. In 2023, tourists spent 12.2 billion PLN, generating 497 million PLN for the municipal budget—a 267 % increase from 2019. The tourism sector contributed 34 billion PLN to GDP, about 7.3 %, and employs over 92 000 people.
