Nawrocki Talks with Tusk About ‘Today’s Most Important Issues for Poles’

The President’s Chief of Staff, Paweł Szefernaker, after a meeting between Prime Minister Karol Nawrocki and former EU president Donald Tusk, stated that the conversation focused on international issues, security, and the pressing matters affecting Poles today.

On Thursday, August 14, Donald Tusk met in the Presidential Palace with Karol Nawrocki. Following the meeting, a press conference was held with the participation of Paweł Szefernaker, Nawrocki’s chief of staff. “Yesterday there was an important meeting of European leaders with U.S. President Donald Trump (…). After that meeting, Prime Minister Tusk requested a meeting with Karol Nawrocki. The meeting primarily concerned international matters, security, and the issues most important to Poles today,” said Paweł Szefernaker. The President’s cabinet head also informed that the Cabinet Council would take place on August 27.

Tusk Waited for Nawrocki

The meeting between Tusk and Nawrocki was supposed to start at 12:00. The prime minister arrived punctually, but had to wait briefly for the president. Nawrocki arrived slightly late, and about an hour later Donald Tusk left the Presidential Palace.

Tusk Wanted to Discuss the Ukraine War with Nawrocki

The meeting of the prime minister and the president was organized at Tusk’s request. Earlier, it was announced that the conversation would concern foreign policy and security, among other topics. Prime Minister Tusk said he wanted to summarize “what is happening on the Ukrainian front and in negotiations involving other countries.”
