A summer house fire at the ROD Radar allotment gardens in Warsaw on Tuesday, June 2, caused thick black smoke visible from the S2 expressway and left one person injured.
Emergency Response Near the Airport
The State Fire Service in Warsaw received notification of the blaze at 14:43. The fire occurred at the ROD Radar allotment site, situated between Chopin Airport and the Na Paluchu animal shelter.
Five fire brigades were dispatched to the scene, supported by police units and emergency medical personnel. The fire completely consumed the summer house located on the plot.
Smoke and Casualties
The intense black smoke rising from the site was visible from a great distance, causing concern among Warsaw residents and commuters on the nearby S2 route. One person sustained minor burns and received medical treatment on-site.
Investigation and Ongoing Operations
While witnesses speculated that a gas cylinder explosion may have occurred, firefighters have not yet confirmed the cause of the fire. As of 16:00, crews continued to search the ruins, conduct demolition work, and extinguish remaining hot spots as police secured the area to investigate the circumstances.
