Failed Assassination Attempt on Former Zelensky Associate Denied by Israeli Police

Ukrainian oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky said Israeli police arrested attackers who tried to kill former Zelensky aide Timur Mindic, but Israel denies any such attempt.

Failed Attempt Claim

On November 28, Ihor Kolomoisky announced that Israeli police had apprehended criminals who allegedly attempted to kill Timur Mindic, a former close confidant of President Vladyslav Zelensky and a central figure in the Ukrainian corruption scandal known as “Mindiczgate”. He stated that the attackers were unsuccessful and that the victims survived unharmed, though one was critically wounded. Kolomoisky promised further details at the next court session on December 11 or 12.

Israeli Police Deny

RBC Ukraine reports that Israeli police officers, responding to comments in the Israeli media, have stated they have no information that an attack was carried out against Mindic, who currently resides in Israel. The police spokesperson further said that law‑enforcement authorities have no confirmation of the claims made by Kolomoisky.

Background: Mindiczgate Corruption Scandal

In November, the “Mindiczgate” corruption scandal broke, alleging that former Zelensky ally Timur Mindic and businessman Oleksandr Cukerman were involved in a $100 million bribery scheme linked to the state nuclear company Energoatom. Both fled the country before charges were brought. Investigations suggest bribes were funneled through a company connected to former politician Andriy Derkacz, a former Russian intelligence agent. Analysts predict that the scandal may extend to the military sector and involve far larger sums of money.
