Latvia: President Meets Polish Soldiers

During a trip to Latvia on Thursday, December 11, President Karol Nawrocki met the Polish troops stationed at the Adazi international base. The contingent, deployed under a 2016 alliance decision at the Warsaw NATO summit, supports Latvia’s security. Nawrocki toured the equipment and even rode a tank for a brief drive, a clip later shared by the presidential office.

President Praises Polish Soldiers in Latvia

In the military base, he thanked the Polish servicemen for their loyalty to the Republic of Poland and for their sacrifice and service. He highlighted that they represent Polish values to the world.

Nawrocki Calls Visit a Confirmation of Mutual Cooperation

On X, after 19:00 Thursday, Nawrocki stated that his stay in Riga confirmed Poland’s and Latvia’s cooperation across security, economics and regional responsibility. He noted that Poland and Latvia are not only relying on NATO for defence but also investing in essential security measures.

President’s Meeting in Riga Discusses Regional Security

The president’s official visit began on Thursday and was hosted by President Edgars Rinkevics. Polish officials spoke on security matters tied to the war in Ukraine, heightened migration from Belarus, and the Baltic Sea situation. Marcin Przydacz, head of the International Policy Office, warned that the Baltic remains subject to hybrid actions by the so‑called shadow fleet, requiring Poland and allies to keep the region safe.
