Polish opposition leader Jarosław Kaczyński warned that the current internal rift at PiS cannot be divided like a bear’s skin as he discussed in a recent interview.
Kaczyński: Unnecessary Words Were Spoken
Jarosław Kaczyński said an intra‑party dispute has received far more media attention than the facts themselves, particularly regarding his party. He noted that several unnecessary comments were made in various places, leading to different statements and protests from others, as he explained during his interview with the Tak! channel.
He added that an interview had been misinterpreted by some, and that certain absences could have been avoided. Kaczyński expressed that the situation would be sorted out in the coming days, expecting resolutions to straighten matters.
Internal PiS Conflict: “Mawlarze” Versus “Harcerze”
The conflict involves supporters of former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki—referred to as “harcerze” (cubs)—and opponents of the former premier, known as “maślarze” (soup makers), including Tobiasz Bocheński and Patryk Jaki. This dispute gained attention after Morawiecki’s interview with Grzegorz Sroczyński, where he did not rule out collaboration with Donald Tusk, and after his absence from a tense party meeting.
Kaczyński: You Cannot Split the Party’s Skin Into a Bear Today
In a typical political clash, Kaczyński emphasized that personal interests are currently misplaced, higher than other priorities. He stated that it is not possible to divide responsibilities or “split the skin into a bear” when the bear is deep in the forest.
He confirmed that he spoke with Morawiecki on Monday and that the conversation “was not the worst.” When asked about restructuring the party, he said, “I intend to, but it is a democratic party, contrary to narratives.” He concluded that the current disputes should end soon.
