11-Year-Old Killed in Jelenia Góra; 12-Year-Old Arrested

Police in Poland’s Jelenia Góra discovered the body of an 11‑year‑old on December 15 and arrested a 12‑year‑old girl from the same school as a suspect.

Discovery of the Victim

The body was found the same day on Wyspiańskiego Street, near Primary School No. 10 in Jelenia Góra.

Police Investigation

Investigators examined the scene, secured footprints, and recovered a knife that was likely used to commit the act. Prosecutor Ewa Węglarowicz‑Makowska described the injuries as caused by a sharp tool.

Suspect Arrest

A 12‑year‑old girl from the same school was identified as a probable perpetrator and has been detained. Court consent was obtained for the arrest.

The girls knew each other by sight but were not friends, and the suspect had no prior legal problems.

Legal Proceedings

The 12‑year‑old cannot be interrogated by police or the prosecutor; only a judge may question her. Police will present her to court, although the hearing date is not yet set. The case follows special procedures for minors.

An autopsy of the victim will be conducted on Tuesday.
