Leicestershire police revealed on Tuesday, December 16 that remains found in bushes near Great Central Way belong to the missing Polish woman, 19 years after her disappearance from Leicester.

Breakthrough in the Investigation of Małgorzata Wnuczek’s Disappearance

Leicestershire Police announced on Tuesday, December 16 that fragments of skeletal remains discovered in October in bushes near Great Central Way, close to Watkin Road, were identified as those of Małgorzata Wnuczek.

Det. Jenni Greenway said the police have kept in contact with the woman’s family and with the Bydgoszcz County Police Command, which has been assisting through an international investigative team.

Background and Disappearance of Małgorzata Wnuczek

Małgorzata Wnuczek, a Polish national who lived in Leicester, vanished on 31 May 2006 while returning by bus from her workplace at Peter Jackson Logistics on Sunningdale Road to the city centre.

Her family reported that she had sent them a text message on 29 May, two days before her disappearance, saying she was fine. After that, no trace of her remained.

Continued Cooperation with Polish Police

Leicestershire Police confirmed that they are continuing to work with their Polish counterparts, thanking them for their ongoing support, in order to determine what happened to Wnuczek.
