Warsaw Launches Pilot Swap‑and‑Repair Centres in Bielany, Mokotów and Praga

Starting early 2026, Warsaw will open nine pilot swap‑and‑repair centres across six districts, offering residents free item exchanges, food sharing, and eco‑education workshops.

Pilot Swap‑and‑Repair Centres Launch

From early 2026 the city will begin a pilot programme featuring nine exchange points in six districts, where residents can give away or receive useful items and—at select sites—share food.

Acceptable Donations

The centres will focus on clothing, textiles, books, toys, small appliances, furniture and plants that remain functional. Damaged goods and waste will not be accepted; such items should be taken to the city’s Selective Waste Collection Points or mobile MPSZOK units.

Locations and Operations

Initial swaps are slated for Bielany, Żoliborz, Praga‑Północ, Praga‑Południe, Śródmieście and Mokotów, with nine sites in total. Municipal organisations chosen in a city competition will run the day‑to‑day management.

Education and Repair Workshops

Every centre will host repair workshops, lectures on waste minimisation, and demonstrations of the circular economy, teaching residents how to fix, repurpose and reduce household waste.

Future Expansion Plan

After the pilot concludes, the city will analyse results and decide whether to extend the network. If successful, permanent swap‑and‑repair points with education will roll out to other Warsaw districts over the coming years.
