Three people died, and eight were injured in a shooting that took place in one of Brooklyn clubs in New York. Police suspect that there may have been several perpetrators.
Shooting in New York
Jessica Tisch from the New York Police Department informed during a press conference that on Sunday, August 17, around 3:30 a.m. local time (9:30 p.m. Polish time) the emergency number received many reports of a shooting. All reports mentioned the Taste of the City venue located in Brooklyn. Detectives who arrived on the scene found at least 36 shell casings. In the nearby area they also discovered a firearm, but detailed tests will confirm if it is related to the incident.
Three People Dead
In the attack 11 people were injured. Tisch reported that when officers arrived, three individuals were found dead. The victims were a 27‑year‑old, a 35‑year‑old, and a man whose age could not be determined at that moment. The ages of the remaining victims range from 27 to 61. They were transported to nearby hospitals. Their condition is unknown, but their injuries are described as non‑life‑threatening.
Police Seek Several Perpetrators
According to investigators, several perpetrators are responsible for the shooting. Preliminary findings indicate that the incident resulted from an argument in the club. As local TV station WABC‑TV reports, no suspects have been arrested so far. Police are reviewing surveillance footage from cameras at the crime scene and surrounding area. Tisch emphasized at the press conference that there had been no similar incidents in the area recently. “For seven months, we have had the lowest number of shootings and victims in New York history. That is, of course, thanks to God. It is terrible what happened this morning. We intend to investigate and get to the bottom of it,” she said.
