Russian news agency TASS reports that Alexei Sklar attempted to take his own life. Meduza states that a statement addressed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs was found at his location, requesting an investigation into allegations of being pressured to commit suicide.

Circumstances Surrounding Death

Russian media report that the former politician had financial difficulties and was in conflict with his family. It was his friends who alerted authorities on Thursday after receiving a message from Sklar. By the time emergency services arrived, the former deputy minister of labor had already died.

Who Was Alexei Sklar?

Alexei Sklar was born on April 25, 1975, in Slavyansk-na-Kubani. From 2018 to 2022, he served as Deputy Minister of Labor of the Russian Federation, overseeing the development of information systems and the provision of electronic government services. After resigning from his position, Sklar, along with his wife, founded his own company.
