75% of Americans Oppose Greenland Takeover, Poll Shows

A recent US poll shows 75% of Americans oppose attempts to take control of Greenland, with similar opposition to forced acquisition.

Majority of Americans Oppose Greenland Takeover

CNN published the results of a poll conducted for the station by SSRS. Participants were asked about the US attempt to take control of Greenland. 75% of respondents evaluated it negatively. Among the surveyed group that sympathizes with Democrats, 94% were opposed. About 80% of independent voters responded the same way. Among Republican supporters, half of those surveyed supported efforts to take over Greenland, and half were opposed.

Assessments of Venezuela Operation and Trump’s Foreign Policy

Respondents were also asked for their opinion on the US operation in Venezuela, during which President Nicolas Maduro was captured. 52% evaluated it negatively, while 48% supported the actions of the United States. Survey participants were also asked for an overall assessment of Donald Trump’s foreign policy. Nearly 60% of respondents expressed concern that Trump had gone too far in trying to expand US control over other countries. 57% stated that decisions by the American president regarding foreign policy had harmed the position of the United States in the world. The survey was conducted on January 9-12 on a representative sample of 1209 respondents.

YouGov Poll on Greenland

Recently, the American branch of the research company YouGov asked participants in an online vote whether the US should buy Greenland or occupy the island by force. 45% of respondents opposed the proposal to buy Greenland, 28% supported it, and 27% had no opinion. 73% of those surveyed negatively assessed the idea of using military force, while 8% were of the opposite opinion. 19% had no formed opinion. More than 2200 people participated in this survey.
