Protest Disrupts Radosław Sikorski’s Book Launch in Krakow

Pro-Palestinian activists staged a spontaneous demonstration at a Krakow hotel on June 3 during the launch of Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski’s latest book, accusing him of complicity in the Gaza conflict.

A Confrontation Over Gaza

Pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered outside the hotel, chanting slogans against Minister Sikorski and demanding he acknowledge the situation in Gaza as genocide. One activist was forcibly removed from the building by security before being handed over to police custody.

The activists specifically targeted Sikorski’s past statements, in which he argued that the term “genocide” requires a specific intent of extermination. Sikorski previously noted that while catastrophic war crimes may be occurring, it is not his role to provide legal judgments on the classification of the conflict.

The Controversy Over Polish TNT

The protest centered on accusations that Poland is facilitating the conflict through the supply of TNT. Activists cited a 2025 report alleging that the state-owned company Nitro-Chem is a primary source of explosives for the Israeli military supply chain.

Nitro-Chem released a statement asserting that all operations are conducted in full compliance with domestic and international law. The company stated it fulfills long-term contracts with American partners and does not specify the final destination or application of its supplied materials, while emphasizing that business details remain protected trade secrets.

Casualties and Conflict Escalation

Data from the WAFA news agency indicates that since October 2023, the conflict in the Gaza Strip has resulted in over 72,900 deaths and 173,000 injuries. These figures continue to rise, with many victims remaining trapped under rubble.

Simultaneously, reports from L’Orient-Le jour highlight an intensification of hostilities in Lebanon. In a single 24-hour period, 48 people were reported killed and nearly 100 injured, adding to the thousands of casualties recorded in the region since early March.
