Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Iranian Ambassador Eisa Kameli on January 15 to express concern over Iran’s response to ongoing protests.
Iranian Ambassador Summoned to MFA
The ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Poland, Eisa Kameli, was summoned on Thursday, January 15, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The reason was the situations occurring during protests that have been ongoing for over two weeks.
Deep Expressed Over Iranian Response
“In the position conveyed to the ambassador, deep concern was expressed regarding the reaction of Iranian authorities to recent events, especially the growing number of victims and arrested,” wrote the MFA.
Poland Appeals to Iran
“Poland, based on its own historical experience, is certain that violence against manifestations of freedom of speech, association or peaceful demonstrations is unacceptable and is not an effective means of achieving political goals.”
Call for Dialogue
“Recognizing the value of special, historical Polish-Iranian relations, Poland appeals for the cessation of the use of force against protesters and for the initiation of dialogue,” wrote the MFA.
“Our district smells of blood,” according to reports from the protests.
