Police rescued a 39‑year‑old woman who called for help in the Zemborzycki Pond in Lublin; her reckless behaviour led to danger.
Lublin.
Reckless behavior of a 39‑year‑old caused her to call for help from the water at the Zemborzycki Pond in Lublin on Saturday, August 16. Authorities from the Water Patrol Station, who were patrolling the pond, saw a woman about 150 m from the shore calling for help. The 39‑year‑old struggled to keep afloat, choked, and lost strength. Officers immediately rushed to her aid and pulled her aboard.
Clothing and alcohol created danger for the 39‑year‑old
The police cited two reasons for the danger. The woman entered the water dressed in light clothing to cool herself; the dress restricted her movement. Furthermore, she was under the influence of alcohol. She received a fine. “We urge common sense and adherence to safety rules. No one should enter water after drinking alcohol. Even a small amount combined with high temperatures can disrupt perception, leading to tragic outcomes,” the police appealed.
RCB on drownings over the extended August weekend
From August 15 to 17, 16 people drowned in Poland, according to the Governmental Security Center. “Summer is a time for rest and relaxation, but one moment of carelessness by the water can lead to an accident,” RCB noted. The center reminded of the essential safety rules that must be strictly observed.
