Shocking Discovery in Warsaw: Two Frozen Bodies Found in Ursus

Police discovered two frozen bodies of an elderly couple in an abandoned Warsaw building after neighbors raised concerns about their absence.

Discovery and Initial Response

On Saturday, January 17, after 12 PM, police received a call from concerned neighbors about two elderly people living in a ruined building at ul. Wiosny Ludów in Warsaw’s Ursus district. The callers reported that they had not seen the residents for two days and were worried about their health.

A police patrol was dispatched to the location. Officers entered the building and found two bodies – a woman and a man – lying on beds in one of the rooms. The temperature inside was below freezing, and the bodies were frozen.

Medical Response and Animal Rescue

Police called a medical rescue team to the scene. Upon arrival, paramedics were unable to provide assistance and confirmed the death of both individuals.

During the intervention, a dog was also found in one of the rooms, huddled in a corner in the cold conditions. The city’s eco-patrol was called to assist, who captured the dog and transported it to a shelter.

Investigation and Background

Further actions on the property were conducted by police under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office. At this time, the exact causes of death are not known. The building had been disconnected from utilities for a long time – there was no water, electricity or gas.

From the findings, it appears that the residents were engaged in scavenging and lived from this activity. The bodies have been secured and transferred to a forensic medicine institute for autopsy to determine the cause of death. Death from hypothermia has not been ruled out.
