Gaza Peace Council Composition
Donald Trump will chair the Peace Council, which will include US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, American businessman Marc Rowan, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and Trump’s advisor Robert Gabriel. Former Bulgarian Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov will serve as the High Representative for Gaza, acting as a liaison between the council and Gaza’s temporary government.
Orban and International Invitations
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who has expressed interest in joining, also received an invitation. According to AFP, politicians from approximately 60 countries were invited, including leaders from the Middle East, France, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Romania, Australia, and Canada, as well as European Commission representatives.
Russia and Belarus Responses
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed Vladimir Putin received an invitation, stating Russians are analyzing the proposal and hope to contact the US to clarify details. Belarusian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Ruslana Varankova reported Alexander Lukashenko positively reacted to the invitation, expressing readiness to participate if the council expands its mandate beyond what was initially proposed.
