Fire at Carpentry Workshop Threatens Nearby Home
On Monday, January 19, 2026, at approximately 5:08 PM in Pruszkow, at Pływacka Street, a serious fire broke out in a reinforced concrete building with a wooden roof. The building was used as a carpentry workshop, and large amounts of flammable materials were stored inside, including paints, varnishes, and particle boards. This type of equipment caused the fire to spread very quickly, and dense smoke clouds rose over the area, visible from a great distance and causing concern among residents.
Firefighters Battle to Protect Residential Building
The situation was particularly dangerous due to the close proximity of a single-family home. Upon arrival of the first fire units, an immediate decision was made to use water streams to defend it. Firefighters focused on securing the residential building to prevent the spread of fire. At the same time, one water stream was directed at the burning object.
Challenging Rescue Operations
To access the interior of the carpentry workshop and effectively reach the source of the fire, rescuers used mechanical saws to cut through the fencing mesh and structural elements of the building. The operations were conducted in very difficult conditions, with heavy smoke, high temperatures, and limited visibility. Firefighters worked in respiratory protection equipment, while also ensuring their own safety and the effectiveness of the operation.
Post-Fire Demolition and Cleanup
After controlling the open flames, work began to ventilate the building to remove accumulated smoke and fire gases. Then began the tedious and time-consuming stage of demolition work, which lasted almost 2 hours. Firefighters dismantled charred structural elements, thoroughly searched the wreckage, and extinguished hidden fire sources that could pose a risk of reignition.
Multiple Units Respond to Emergency
A total of six fire units were dispatched to the scene – units from the State Fire Service in Pruszkow and nearby Volunteer Fire Service units. Police secured the scene, maintaining order and ensuring the safety of bystanders. Thanks to the efficient coordination of emergency services, the situation was quickly brought under control and further damage prevented.
No Injuries Reported
Luckily, no one was injured in the fire and no medical assistance was necessary. The rescue and firefighting operation ended at approximately 7:30 PM. The exact cause of the fire will be determined in further proceedings.
