Residents mourn 6-year-old with candles and teddy bears at Grochowska accident site

Residents gathered at a Warsaw intersection with candles and stuffed toys to mourn a 6-year-old boy killed in a car accident.

Mourning Gathering

On Tuesday at 18:30, dozens of people gathered at the intersection of Grochowska and Zamieniecka streets in Warsaw’s Praga-Południe district. They brought candles, flowers, and stuffed toys to place near the site where a fatal accident occurred the day before.

Among the memorials were teddy bears brought by other children. One bear was reportedly left by a man who, according to eyewitnesses, was the first to help the injured boy.

The gathering was marked by silence, with visible emotion and tears among participants. Police secured the intersection area.

Fatal Accident Details

The tragic incident occurred yesterday (19.01) when two cars collided at the intersection. One vehicle overturned and struck pedestrians, resulting in the death of a 6-year-old boy and injuries to three others who were hospitalized.

Two drivers were detained and later charged under Article 177 of the Penal Code for causing a fatal traffic accident with injuries to multiple people. After being questioned, they were released while prosecutor’s investigations continue.
