A 45-year-old man hit an 18-year-old pedestrian at a crossing in Żyrardów and fled, with witnesses later apprehending him after tests revealed 2.7‰ alcohol in his system.

Incident Details

On Thursday, January 15th, around 8:00 PM, police in Żyrardów received information about a pedestrian being hit at a crossing on Jaktorowska Street. The driver failed to provide assistance to the injured person and fled the scene. The victim was an 18-year-old Ukrainian citizen who sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital for further diagnosis and treatment.

Apprehension and Alcohol Test

Thanks to the quick reaction of witnesses, the man was apprehended and subsequently handed over to the police. After an alcohol test, it was found that the resident of Żyrardów was intoxicated. The device showed 2.7‰ alcohol in his system.

Traffic Violations and Penalties

As determined by the police, the man committed several traffic violations, including failing to provide assistance to the accident victim, causing an accident while intoxicated, and using a mobile phone while driving. For this, he received a total of 57 penalty points. The police confiscated his driver’s license and vehicle registration.

Potential Consequences

For causing a traffic accident while intoxicated and leaving the scene, the 45-year-old faces a potential long-term prison sentence.
