German Chancellor’s Plane Targeted by Activists, Police in Action

German police arrested three individuals near Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s private plane. They are suspected of attempting to immobilize the aircraft.

According to prosecutors and police, the suspects’ plans were thwarted.

The event took place overnight from Wednesday to Thursday (January 21 to 22) in Arnsberg, North Rhine-Westphalia, where the chancellor stores his private aircraft in a hangar.

Suspects’ Background

Two women and a man, aged 23, 28, and 56, were detained for disturbing the peace after entering the hangar area without authorization. Police reported the trio was known to them and had previously participated in left-wing and pro-climate protests.

The “Collective of Resistance” group later claimed responsibility, stating they “attempted to immobilize Friedrich Merz’s private plane as part of a protest action.”
