Poland 2050 leader Szymon Hołownia defends Culture Minister Marta Cienkowska after private messages were leaked to media.
Hołownia’s Defense of Cienkowska
On Friday, January 23, Szymon Hołownia appeared at a press briefing in the Sejm. The politician responded to media reports about messages sent by Marta Cienkowska.
“I believe that in private conversations, everyone has the right to maintain a bit more freedom than in public appearances. Marta Cienkowska is a very good Minister of Culture, she fights for very important things, now for the artists’ social security bill. I support her with all my heart and I sympathize with her that she became a victim of such a despicable gesture from her party, political colleagues. This should never happen,” said Hołownia quoted by portal 300polityka.pl.
Criticism of Message Leaks
Hołownia added that the content of private messages exchanged between Poland 2050 politicians should not reach the media.
“The problem here is not what Minister Cienkowska wrote, but that someone from our group deemed it appropriate to fight in a disgusting way for me, by revealing private correspondence in order to hit someone else. This shows what our election campaign has led us to, that I decided to step down as the head of the movement,” said Szymon Hołownia.
Content of Leaked Messages
TVN24 journalists revealed fragments of conversations between Poland 2050 politicians. It was reported that before the election of a new party leader, Marta Cienkowska wrote on one of the messengers about the “return/coup action.”
“Fuck the friendly media. If we change the management and get to work, everyone will forget about this shit planned by our coup. Will these pseudo-journalists call it that right away. At least we’ll show balls,” Cienkowska was said to have written.
