Traffic police vehicle collides with tram in city centre, tram service suspended

A marked traffic police vehicle crashed into a line 17 tram in Warsaw’s city centre, halting tram traffic on the affected segment.

Collision at Nowolipie intersection

On Wednesday, a marked traffic police vehicle of the Road Traffic Department collided with a line 17 tram near the Nowolipie intersection.

Impact and aftermath

The strike forced the police vehicle to bounce off the tram and hit a nearby pylon, but fortunately no injuries were reported and both the driver and conductor were sober.

Investigations and traffic suspension

Other road traffic units secured the scene and carried out the investigation, while the Warsaw Tram Supervisory Authority conducted additional checks. Tram traffic on the segment was temporarily suspended and resumed after the initial incident was handled.

Roundabout danger highlighted by residents

Local residents point out that the roundabout at this location is frequently involved in car‑tram collisions, with several incidents occurring each month.
