Russia Demands Reliable Security Guarantees for Ukraine
The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed on Wednesday that the United Kingdom, France, and Germany seek a collective security guarantee for Ukraine and Europe, and that Russia wants these guarantees to be credible. He proposed involving China and Russia itself to ensure that the guarantees are trustworthy.
International Coalition Readiness to Deploy Troops
During a meeting of the “coalition of interested” states on Tuesday, French President discussed the readiness of Britain, France, Germany, Turkey, and other countries to conduct operations in air, sea, and land to secure Ukraine. The President emphasized that these operations would not serve as provocations and would not take place on the front line.
Putin in an Uncertain Situation
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its opposition to any NATO forces entering Ukraine and warned of an uncontrolled escalation. Washington Post reported that U.S. President Trump indicated the United States would not send troops to Ukraine but might support European allies—a scenario that could leave Putin in an uncertain position.
