Four Centuries of Gardens at the Royal Baths – Free Admission on Fridays

The Royal Baths Museum opens its latest summer exhibition, “Life of the Royal Garden,” chronicling 400 years of Warsaw’s beloved Łazienki Gardens. Friday visitors can enter the museum for free, making it easy to pair a cultural visit with a stroll through the historic park.

About the Exhibition

The Royal Baths Museum is showcasing “Life of the Royal Garden,” a four‑century story of the Łazienki Gardens. Set in Podchorążówka and the park’s outdoor areas, the exhibition runs from June 20 to September 14, 2025. Friday visitors enjoy free entry to the museum and can explore the gardens at no cost, allowing for a seamless blend of indoor and outdoor experiences.

Social and Cultural Role of the Gardens

The exhibit highlights the gardens’ social and cultural significance, revealing the daily lives of former residents and staff. It traces the evolution of styles—from royal formalism to romantic splendor, and onto modernist influences—showing how the gardens have mirrored the spirit of each era.

Outdoor Elements

Key to the project are the outdoor features of the park. Using archival sketches and photographs, the museum has reconstructed historical plantings near the Palace on the Island and the Old Orangery. Visitors can compare today’s horticultural practices with their historic counterparts in natural scale.

Narrative of the Exhibition

The narrative explores the development of garden art within Łazienki, shifts in how Warsaw residents used the space, and the influence of owners and designers on green design. The display includes archival documents, models, maquettes, and art objects that chronicle changes in composition, biodiversity, and gardening work.
