Drunk, Unlicensed Driver Crashes BMW M4 onto Tram Tracks in Wola District

A drunk and unlicensed driver crashed a BMW M4 in Warsaw’s Wola district, hitting two vehicles and ending up on tram tracks.

Accident Details

A three-vehicle collision occurred at 5:19 PM on Kasprzaka Street at the intersection with Płocka Street in Warsaw’s Wola district. The BMW M4 driver failed to adjust speed and collided with a Fiat van, which then struck a Volkswagen passenger vehicle.

Driver Investigation

Police at the scene determined that the 47-year-old BMW driver was intoxicated, with a breathalyzer test showing 2.5 permile of alcohol. Additionally, the man did not possess a valid driver’s license and was taken into custody.

Consequences

Following the collision, the BMW drove onto a green area and partially onto tram tracks, blocking rail traffic. The Volkswagen crashed into road signs and stopped on a green area lane. No injuries requiring hospitalization were reported among the accident participants.

Emergency Response

Two fire brigades, two emergency medical service crews, ZTM and Warsaw Tramways supervision, and several police teams responded to the scene. Two lanes in the direction of the city center and one lane toward the Millennium Avenue were blocked due to the accident.

Transport Disruption

The accident disrupted tram traffic on lines 10 and 11 near the “Szpital Wolski” stop. Possible delays were announced. Line 10 toward Wyścigi and Line 11 toward Sielec were redirected via Wolska – Skierniewicka – Kasprzaka route.
