Warsaw Roadworks: Marsa Closed, Kijowska Milling, and Final Asphalt on Sobieskiego

Warsaw residents can expect significant traffic disruptions this week as major roadworks commence across the city, including the closure of Marsa street, milling on Kijowska, and the final asphalt layer on Sobieskiego. Expect detours and altered public transport routes.

Marsa Street Remont

The end of the summer holidays brings significant changes to traffic organization: the renovation of Marsa Street in Rembertów is starting, and the final layer of asphalt will be laid on Sobieskiego Street. This weekend, road workers will mill Kijowska Street, and a new roundabout in Wawer will be asphalted, requiring the closure of the intersection. Check detours and changes in public transport.

The surface of the exit from the Nowy Rembertów estate will be renovated before the end of the holidays. Work will begin on Friday, August 22, at 22:00, closing Marsa Street from Żołnierskiej to Ilskiego. Drivers will be diverted via Żołnierską and Strażacką streets. Residents will be able to use Ilskiego, Płatnerską, and Suflerską streets. Bus line 183 will not operate during the renovation. A replacement bus line Z83 will connect the Zielona loop with Warszawa Rembertów train station. Buses on lines 514, N21, and N71 will follow detours. The contractor guarantees that all work on Marsa will be completed by the end of August. More information about the renovation can be found on infoulice.um.warszawa.pl.

Jana III Sobieskiego Street

Jana III Sobieskiego Street will soon have all its asphalt layers. The contractor for the tram line to Wilnowo has scheduled work on the final section of the road this weekend. The lane towards the city center, between św. Bonifacego Street and Witosa Avenue, will be closed from Thursday to Friday, August 21-22. From Nałęczowska Street, it will be possible to drive only in one lane, leading to Truskawiecka Street. Half of the intersection with św. Bonifacego Street will be closed from the Powsińska side. Detours will be marked via Wilanowska and Wiertnicza avenues or Nałęczowska Street to Powsińska and then Idzikowskiego Street, or via Witosa Avenue. Drivers can also go to Aleja Sikorskiego. Traffic on the lane towards the city center will return on Monday, August 25, around 4:00 AM. Until then, buses on lines 108, 116, 148, 163, 172, 185, 189, and night buses N03, N33, N81, and N83 will follow detour routes.

Kijowska Street Milling

Road workers will also be working on Kijowska Street this weekend, replacing the surface. Work will begin on Friday, August 22, at 22:00 and continue until Monday, August 25, at 4:00 AM. During this time, both lanes between Targowa Street and Dworzec Wschodni (Eastern Railway Station) will be closed to traffic. Connections from Kijowska will not be available via Targowa, Brzeska, and Markowska streets. From the Zabraniecka side, drivers will only be able to reach Kijowska up to the turnaround at the height of the parking lot and the bus loop in front of Dworzec Wschodni. The detour is marked via Targowa, Ząbkowską, Radzymińską, Naczelnikowską, and Zabraniecką streets to Kijowska Street. During milling, buses on lines 120, 169, 512, and N02 will reach the loop on the other side of Dworzec Wschodni via Targowa, Zamoyskiego, and Lubelska streets. Night buses N03 and N71, on their way to Winnica and Dworzec Centralny (Central Railway Station), will also pass under the station from the Lubelska side. Bus 123 will go to the Stadion Narodowy (National Stadium) metro station instead of the Dw. Wschodni (Kijowska) loop, via Zamoyskiego and Sokolą streets.

Wawer Roundabout Construction

The Wawer district is finishing the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Przewodowej, Strzygłowskiej, and Mrągowskiej streets. The final stage of the work, the asphalt paving, is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, August 23 and 24. The intersection will be completely closed. The detour will be via Trakt Lubelski and Skalnicową streets to Zasadowa Street. Buses on lines 142 will operate via Skalnicową and Zasadową streets, and 219 will follow a detour via Trakt Lubelski. Details about the work can be found on infoulice.um.warszwa.pl.
